Gabrielle Rubinstein-Cheong

Gabrielle (on right with Alex Bertin) co-owns Joe with her brother Jonathan. Gabby has loved coffee since she was a little girl in Cleveland, Ohio, although at that point, she drank it pretty light. Countless cups of watery diner coffee at 6:30AM got her through high school, but soon she learned of a better quality bean. Before breaking into the fabulous world of coffee, Gabby spent most of her life in theater. She studied music at McGill University and The Manhattan School of Music. Among other places, Gabrielle sang for the Met’s Outreach program, and with Utah Festival opera and Utah Opera, both as a Young Artist, at Tanglewood Music Festival, and was a regional finalist at the Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions. She never lost her passion for coffee, however, and (especially in Utah) would bring her coffee wherever she would travel to sing.

Gabrielle started Team Joe Running Club in 2006 to join together 3 of her favorite things: running, drinking coffee and schmoozing. She also met her husband (a Joe customer) at a Team Joe run (see NY Times Vows article http://tiny.cc/hai6i). Recently, Gabby's Granita recipe was published in the Runner's World Magazine's new cookbook The Athlete's Palate.
