Michelangelo Milano
Michelangelo is mostly nocturnal. He spends up to 20 hours a day sleeping or resting in trees, curled up gripping the limbs with his feet. When he moves around, he can leap from tree to tree as well as travelling longer distances on the ground. Michelangelo walks with an awkward gait, moving very slowly, but he can break into a run if threatened. When travelling on the ground, Michelangelo can be attacked by predators such as dogs, foxes and dingoes and he is also at risk of injury or death from cars.
Michelangelo is very territorial and works in stable coffee groups. Each barista has its own ‘coffee shop’, and the area is called the barista's ‘home range’. The size of each home range depends upon the sex, age and social position of the barista within the group. Michelangelo does not normally visit other coffee shops, except for breeding. Michelangelo is generally silent but can communicate with a wide variety of sounds including growls, grunts and a load bellow. The mating call of Michelangelo can be heard for long distances during breeding season.
Michelangelo has a very large (but not too large) nose. It is one of his most important features. He has a very highly developed sense of smell, which helps Michelangelo tell what coffee beans are safe to drink.
Michelangelo has a very low metabolism, which conserves energy and helps with digestion of the fantastic coffee at Joe. He drinks at any time of day, but usually in the cool of the night to conserve energy and moisture.
