Andrew Yee
Andrew Yee had his first cup of coffee in Fairfax, VA in the year 1997. It was a large iced coffee with lots of cream and sugar (aka “a regulah”) at Dunkin’ Donuts on route 50. Fairfax was also the place where he started playing the cello. Andrew went to Juilliard and is now the cellist of a group called the Attacca String Quartet. They have played in Carnegie Hall, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Canada, and the Netherlands. The quartet was teaching at Tanglewood in the Berkshire mountains when Andrew found a coffee shop called Lenox Coffee and fell in love with their iced coffee. When the summer was over, he was sad to leave the wonderful coffee behind, but they said “have no fear, there is a place of great coffee quality in your town as well”! That place was “Joe”, and soon Andrew was a regular. He started drinking the coffee so much that he figured he might as well get paid for it. He began as a barback at the Upper West side shop, washing dishes and learning how to pour a perfect Hario drip coffee. He is now a Barista in Training at the Grand Central location where he can be found wearing his trademark green cap, which has the distinction of being the only hat that has ever really fit his huge head. His drink of choice is the amazing cold brewed iced coffee, which he takes with no cream or sugar.
